AYWS — Al Azhar 67 Islamic Junior High School Yogyakarta held its Sport Day for the 2026/2027 academic year over two days, Thursday and Friday, September 24–25, 2026. The event brought together students from Grades 7, 8, and 9 in a combination of educational activities, physical challenges, and inter-class sports competitions.
The first day of activities was held at Asram Edupark, Sleman, on Thursday (September 24, 2026). Students took part in a variety of outdoor lab activities, including feeding, milking, and bathing goats.
The program continued with a series of physical challenges, including rock climbing and a flying fox course. Students also had the opportunity to learn about and experience golf and softball.
More than simply providing a break from their regular classroom routines, the activities were designed to foster teamwork and strengthen students’ sense of togetherness. The outdoor activities also provided opportunities for students and teachers to build stronger relationships through shared experiences.
On the second day, Friday (September 25, 2026), the activities moved to the Sports Hall on the 10th floor of Al Azhar Gamping Campus II. Students competed in inter-class sports competitions featuring kasti, a traditional Indonesian bat-and-ball game, and basketball.
The matches were lively and highly engaging. Students from all grade levels participated enthusiastically while maintaining a strong spirit of sportsmanship throughout the competitions.
The two-day Sport Day event was conducted smoothly without any significant issues. Beyond providing students with an opportunity to refresh themselves amid a demanding academic schedule, the event also served as part of the school’s efforts to develop important character values through teamwork, discipline, togetherness, and sportsmanship.
By combining outdoor learning experiences with sports competitions, AYWS Sport Day provided students with a valuable opportunity to grow not only academically but also in their ability to interact, collaborate, and appreciate one another. (Rafika)
