SLEMAN– Every year, Indonesia’s Independence Day on 17th of August is a momentous occasion, and this year’s 80th anniversary was no exception. At Al-Azhar 34 Yogyakarta Senior High School, the celebration was a vibrant tapestry of tradition, creativity, and spirited competition. Students, teachers, and parents came together for a day full of fun events, demonstrating their patriotism and love for the nation in a truly memorable way.

The festivities kicked off with an eye-catching Jarik Fashion Show. Jarik —a traditional Indonesian patterned cloth— is a symbol of our rich cultural heritage. But this wasn’t the typical runway event; students were challenged to transform the traditional fabric into creative and modern outfits. The creativity on display was. incredible, with contestants showcasing unique designs that blended traditional patterns with contemporary styles. The competition was fierce, and the runway was alive with color and confidence. In the end, two students stood out for their exceptional designs and stage presence, earning the prestigious titles of Best Male and Best Female. It was a perfect blend of honoring tradition while embracing innovation.
The Thrill of Competition: A Series of Exciting Races
The energy escalated as the school moved on to a series of classic Indonesian independence games. The relay race was a huge hit, with teams of students running and passing each challenge with incredible speed.
