BANTUL – In the spirit of Maulid, Al Azhar 67 Junior High School carried out a meaningful charity program at SLB Negeri 1 Bantul on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. The event aimed to nurture compassion, empathy, and awareness among students while providing support for children with special needs.
The agenda of the visit included two main activities. First, the students of Al Azhar 67 had the opportunity to get to know the children at SLB Negeri 1 Bantul more closely. Through this interaction, they were reminded of one of the noble values exemplified by the Prophet: showing love and care for individuals with disabilities. The activity also served as a valuable lesson for students to understand that every person is precious and deserves respect and appreciation.
Not only did the Al Azhar 67 students share kindness, but they also learned from their peers at SLB Negeri 1 Bantul. Behind their challenges, many of the children with special needs possess extraordinary talents, such as singing and pantomime, which have even earned recognition at the national level. This inspired Al Azhar 67 students to see that differences do not limit one’s ability to excel and shine.
Second, the charity program included the distribution of aid in the form of staple food packages, pre-loved items, and cash donations. This contribution reflected the school’s commitment to sharing kindness and supporting the needs of the community, particularly children with special needs.
Principal and teachers of Al Azhar 67 Junior High School expressed their gratitude to SLB Negeri 1 Bantul for the warm welcome and to the students and parents of Al Azhar 67 who actively participated in the charity initiative. The event not only strengthened bonds of friendship but also encouraged the spirit of caring for others, especially in the holy month of Mualid.
With this activity, Al Azhar 67 Junior High School hopes to instill values of compassion, social responsibility, and gratitude in its students, values that will guide them both in school and in everyday life. (Erni K)
